Manipura

04.2023

This energy center came out of me so easily. It was as if I birthed my truth. Of course I was able to easily move through a work of art about taking action. I have only recently in my adult life began to give myself permission to rest and really be okay with doing it. Finding the grace to rest comes more easily to me now. I no longer have to force myself to take a beat.

Element: Fire

Color: Yellow

My title: “Discernment”

There are a lot of powerful elements to this collage. The first is the tiger, an animal that embodies will power. I chose black and white to emphasize the yin and yang of this chakra. Manipura is our energetic digestive system. It is here that we discern if we do or if we be. The tiger has two different colored eyes which takes that balance to another level.

The element here is fire. Our energy when in balance is like a steady fire, there is fuel for the flame and it doesn’t over take the surrounding systems. We manage this flame by our own control. We manage our flame by discernment and our choices. When the fire burns out it is because we did not listen to our needs and take a moment to recharge, refuel, rejuvenate. That element is symbolized here in the wildflower “Fireweed”. This flower achieved its name by its resilience. It is one of the first botanicals to bloom after a wildfire.

I embedded the ten petal lotus with the sun in the sky above the tiger’s head. It is shining alternating rays of light across the composition.
